On Monday, August 21, 2017, America witnessed the first coast to coast total solar eclipse in almost 100 years. Just 4 days later, Saturn transited direct today and concurrently Hurricane Harvey hits the Texas coast as a devastating Category 4, likely being one of the most damaging storms to ever hit the contiguous United States. Saturn represents karma or timing or things that you should have taken care of that you have not dealt with. Climate change is real and it doesn't matter how it began or what causes it. We all know there has been a huge change in the severity of the weather and it has caused devastating consequences worldwide. America needs to deal with it no matter the politics.
The last coast to coast total solar eclipse in the U.S.A. was on June 8, 1918 crossed America from Washington State all the way to Florida. It's path is very similar to the August 21, 2017 total solar eclipse and was the last time totality crossed the nation from the Pacific to the Atlantic. In ancient astrology and texts, eclipses, especially total solar eclipses in particular are said to be ominous and carry a great negative energy in the nation in which it is clearly witnessed, representing a horrible omen for what is to come. Although I would like to remain hopeful, with the current political climate in America, Monday's eclipse happening conjunct Donald Trump's Ascendant, the current retrograde status of many current planets especially Mercury in Retrograde in Virgo (the sign it rules), current civil unrest, the world under the threat of nuclear war between North Korea and the U.S., America's upcoming Pluto return in 2020 and with the 2024 almost reverse or mirrored total solar eclipse transit happening which runs from Texas to Maine, I cannot help but wonder is the 2024 Eclipse path related to the current outcomes of the initial eclipse in the sequence (8/21/17).
Again, to reiterate, please notice that the April 2024 eclipse begins in Texas, where likely the most catastrophic natural disaster in American history is unfortunately unfolding. This makes me believe that the points of the beginning and end of the eclipse paths hold some sort of stronger effect by the eclipse versus other points along the path of totality.I also have increasing concern about the area where the 2 lines intersect with the 2024 eclipse path near Carbondale, Illinois and I imagine that in time, it may become more clear as we approach the date in 2024 what the possibilities for that area could or would be.
I also find it very interesting that 7 years from now will be the first Saturn square from Saturn going direct today or today's chart. That is when the next and final total solar eclipse will happen over the U.S. We will have to see how that plays out.
Astrology is not just the study of the stars, it is mainly a study of patterns and how to either break or accept these patterns and to understand the timing of events. If you look at the 1918 hurricane season in the U.S., one of the main hurricanes of followed the same path as hurricane Harvey except landfall was slightly more east towards the Texas/Louisiana coast. Astrologically speaking, events occur in cycles and things repeat themselves--especially if we do not learn from our mistakes. This is the promise of Saturn.
It is also almost exactly 12 years ( which corresponds to a Jupiter cycle) since the infamous hurricane Katrina. Hopefully, the powers that be have had the higher education, focus with foresight, and hindsight assessment to create luck by knowledge and wisdom (all Jupiterian themes) from past storms.
Also, when having this conversation, we cannot discount the influence of Uranus in Aries trining (in harmonious aspect with) Saturn in Sagittarius. Uranian + Saturnine influence = Aquarius Energy. Aquarius is the blending of the energies of both of these planets. It is the humanitarian and also the rebel. Uranus rules Nuclear energy and Saturn in Sagittarius is restriction of foreigners, a lessening of foreign policy conversations and reduction of international diplomacy. Aries energy rules wars and battles, so you can see how these two planets, even working in harmony, can cause much confusion and potential for disruptive conflicts worldwide. Add in Mercury Retrograde and you can see how this could potentially be highly problematic for trying to make a peaceful path via mere conversational negotiations.
The current threat of hurricane situation definitely adds to the symbology of the Water Barer bringing in the Age of Aquarius and pouring its water across the earth. Some spiritualists and religious leaders said that the eclipse was the actual beginning of the Age of Aquarius, but, in my opinion that is up for very contentious debate for many reasons to be discussed in future posts. Aquarian energy is about philanthropy and empathy for all of humankind. However, unfortunately, it seems the only time that a majority people can come together regardless of their political standing or social condition is under the extreme destruction and loss of what makes us human.
Like the storm barreling down on many of us, in life we must weather the storms and always be prepared. Saturn teaches us how to do this by teaching us to know what we need vs. what we want and by showing us what we cant live without. I just wish for our sake, this particular transit of Saturn direct and Solar Eclipse in combination was not such a harsh lesson and horrific lesson. With an estimated 17 million people who could be affected by this storm: Pray for Texas. Pray for the United States. Pray for the entire World. Pray for the Galaxy. Pray for the Multiverse. As a pattern seeker, this looks like a good time to do so. This definitely is a class of studying the patterns of the past could be vital to understanding your future.
